Gucci is an Italian fashion and leather goods brand. It is also the biggest-selling Italian brand with various styles and products, such as hats, shoes, handbags, backpacks, watches, belt, purses, wallets, sunglasses and jewelry, etc., for both men and women.
It was founded in Florence in 1921, and now operates directly through franchisees and upscale department stores worldwide, including China, a country that has a big appetite and ability for consuming brand name products as it emerged as an international economical superpower.
The year it opened in China was 1997 with store locations in Beijing and Shanghai. Though a big event for the company, it was buried by another event that was hugely important: Hong Kong was returned back to China by the United Kingdom in that year.
